Melissa Storm is an Oklahoma based painter known for her dark aesthetic and Pop Surrealist portraiture. Using mixed media and aggressive line quality, each portrait is an extension of the artist and her struggle with mental illness.
The figures rest within a textured void content in their aloneness while engaging the viewer with their gaze- inviting them to take part in the narrative unfolding in these vacant expanses.
"My paintings are a purifying process." she says, " I've captured a piece of myself and took control of it. I trapped it and your viewing of it is the exorcism."
